Counselling and Therapy in Eastbourne, East Sussex

Descriptions

Hey I’m Anna, a person-centred therapist and founder of Ascend Therapy. I offer one-to-one counselling for adults in a welcoming, supportive and non-judgemental environment. Whether you prefer to meet in person, online or by phone, I offer flexible options to support what feels most comfortable. Central to my practice is a deep belief in the healing power of human connection. I see therapy as a place where you can come just as you are, without judgement or pressure. My values of authenticity, autonomy and compassion help me offer a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected and supported. I welcome and celebrate difference and individuality, aiming to provide a nurturing, affirming space for people of all identities and life journeys. The therapy I offer is open ended, and can be either short or long term depending on your needs. - My Approach - My approach is grounded in an experiential person-centred philosophy. This means I offer an environment where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, with empathy, authenticity and a deep respect for your autonomy. I hold space for how experiences are felt and processed in the present moment, supporting you to connect with your inner knowing. I draw from existential perspectives, inviting reflection around some of life’s deeper questions and meanings, particularly during times of transition, loss or uncertainty. I am also deeply passionate about integrating creative elements into the therapeutic process when it feels right. This may involve using expressive tools to support different ways of exploring and processing experiences beyond words. - Areas in which can be supported through therapy -

Anxiety, depression and stress Low self-esteem and self-worth Grief, loss and bereavement The impact of suicide and suicidal thinking Trauma, childhood neglect and CSA Domestic violence Identity exploration and life transitions Relationship and interpersonal difficulties Health-related concerns and chronic illness Neurodivergent experiences LGBTQ+ identities and experiences

…and more. - Qualifications & Experience - I hold a BSc (Hons) in Person-Centred Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My experience includes working as a volunteer bereavement counsellor at St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne, supporting individuals navigating grief and loss. I have also worked as a volunteer for the SHOUT text service, offering urgent mental health and crisis support. I regularly engage in continuing professional development, with a particular focus on areas such as creative expression in therapy, grief and bereavement support, as well as identity, difference and inclusivity. Most recently I have completed short training in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). My work is also shaped by my own lived experiences, which deepens my understanding of uniqueness and the importance of creating a space that is inclusive, affirming, and respectful of each person’s sense of self. I am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS check. - Rates - Sessions last 50 minutes and are £50 per session. I also offer a limited number of concessionary rated sessions for low income. Please contact me via WhatsApp or email. I also offer a flexible self-scheduling service on my website: https://ascendtherapy.setmore.com
