We're Nottingham Tree Surgeons. Small firm, based at St Nicholas Court on Castle Gate, right in the middle of Nottingham. I'm Harry Anderson and I run things day to day. Between us we've got more than 20 years in tree services, and trees are all we do, so if you're after tree surgeons in Nottingham you've found us.
Our lads are qualified arborists, trained and certified, and the climbers are qualified in aerial tree work and chainsaw use. We've got public liability and employer's liability insurance. Anyone working on your job is covered by personal injury insurance too.
If you want to see the certificates, just ask and we'll send them over. You can also find our Nottingham tree surgery office on Google Maps if you'd like to know where we are.
Tree removal's probably the one we get asked about most. A tree might need to come down because it's dead or diseased, it's too close to the house, or it's just got too big for the garden. We have a proper look at what's round it first, then plan how to bring it down safely.
As a rough guide, a tree up to 5 m usually costs £75 to £200. One of 10 to 15 m is around £200 to £400. Anything over 25 m tends to be £500 to £1,000.
Pruning's the bread and butter of what we do. It's taking out the dead, damaged or awkward branches so the tree stays healthy and doesn't start causing you bother. For a tree up to 5 m you're normally looking at £50 to £150. A 10 to 15 m tree is more like £100 to £300, and the big ones over 25 m usually come in at £250 to £700.
Crown reduction is for a tree that's just got too big for where it is. We bring the height and spread of the crown down so it sits better in the space, and you don't lose the tree. Prices start at about £75 to £200 for a tree up to 5 m, £125 to £275 for 5 to 10 m, and up to £400 to £900 for anything over 25 m.
Crown thinning's a different job. The tree stays the same overall size, but we take out some of the branches inside the crown so more light and air can get through. You'd be surprised what it does for a dark garden. A small tree up to 5 m is usually £60 to £175, a 15 to 20 m tree is around £175 to £450, and over 25 m it's £275 to £800.
Once a tree's down, the stump tends to get left sitting there. We can grind it out so you get that bit of ground back. We price it on the width of the stump. Up to 20 cm across is about £100 to £150, 51 to 60 cm is around £225 to £250, and the biggest on our list, 111 to 120 cm, comes in at £375 to £400.
Hedges keep us busy too. Short wee garden ones right up to long boundary runs. We go by length. A 5 m hedge is usually £75 to £200, 15 m is around £200 to £400, and a 30 m hedge is normally £500 to £700.
Wood chipping turns branches and cut timber into chippings, which is a lot easier to deal with than a pile of brash. For 50 cubic feet of branches it's roughly £100 to £300, and 100 cubic feet is £200 to £500. For whole trees, a 7 m pine is about £200 to £400, and a 15 m oak can be £500 to £800.
Site clearance is for overgrown plots, gardens that have got away from someone, or land that needs clearing before building work. We charge by area, usually between £15 and £35 per square metre, depending on what's growing there and how much there is to take away.
We're based in the city centre and work across Nottingham and the towns around it. That covers Arnold, Beeston, Carlton, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Stapleford and West Bridgford. If you're nearby but not on that list, give us a ring anyway and we'll tell you straight whether we can help.
Please treat all the prices above as rough guides, not fixed quotes. They're the figures on our price pages, updated as of October 2026. Every tree is different. Access, how close it is to buildings, its condition and how much waste there is all change the cost. That's why every job gets a free inspection and a written quote first.
Here's how a job usually goes. You call us on 074 1863 2440, tell us what you need, and we arrange a time to come out and have a look. The inspection is free. Afterwards we give you a written quote with no obligation, so you can think it over, compare it with others or say no. If the tree has a Tree Preservation Order or you're in a conservation area, we sort out the paperwork with the council for you. Once you agree, we can normally start within a few days. We do the work, clean up properly before we leave, and only then do we ask to be paid.
That last point is our price guarantee. You don't pay a penny until the job's finished as per the contract we agreed. We don't publish a set warranty period, so if that's important to you, just ask when we come round to quote and we'll go through it. One thing we always do is put the price and the scope of the work in writing before we start. That way you know exactly what you're getting.
We hate waste. Green waste gets recycled where we can, and whatever's left is disposed of properly. A good bit of the wood and material ends up with local businesses, schools and charity projects. It's nice when a tree that had to come down ends up being some use to somebody.
We're open Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. Closed Sundays. Give us a ring or pop into the office in town.
